An honest record of going out there

Blackrock Overland started because the videos we wanted to watch did not exist. Plenty of channels showed a clean rig on a famous trail. Far fewer showed the ordinary version — a weekend run up the Carson Range, a climb into the White Mountains, a night out where the Sierra drops away into Nevada.

So we started filming the whole thing: the route research, the load-out, the climb, and the parts that did not go to plan. Trips run from an afternoon to a week, mostly on Forest Service and BLM land between Lake Tahoe, the Eastern Sierra and the Nevada backcountry, usually with family along.

The channel is not a review show and it is not a build series, though both turn up. It is a record of travel in a part of the country that most people drive across at seventy-five miles an hour on the interstate, and it is an argument that the country between the exits is worth the effort.
